There use to be a time when idea of using water as fuel for running engine, including cars was very popular. During that time there where already some progress in actualisation of this vision but it seems to be gradually fading away.

The present emphasis on energy now is on making car engine or other engine more efficient in the same carbon emitting fuel. Why has the talk on water as fuel died away? Does it mean scientist have given up on this issues?

Research question: How long will it take to start using water as fuel?

I hope the time will never come. Following how every resource depletion proceeds I would be affraid there will not be enough water to drink and to use for irrigation. Allready today there is lack of fresh water resources.
